Sanne, Abigail, Mirjam, Teresam en Shireen (Wageningen University) onderzochten rechten voor rivieren wereldwijd en pasten de lessen die zij hieruit haalden toe op rechten voor de Maas. Hun conclusie: geef de Maas rechten!
The Maas is suffering; increasing effects of climate change, flood risks, and severe pollution are suffocating her. In 2019, the river was unable to provide drinking water due to toxic agricultural discharge into the river (mainly pesticides, fertilisers and waste), and industrial pollution (via waste pouring and atmospheric deposition).
In the 90s, heavy metals from ore and coal factories, and levels of pollution were at a peak3. To this day, concentration of toxic compounds (such as PCBs, hydrocarbons, chlorinated pesticides) and trace metals remains above European Standard through-out the Maas.

Niemand voelt zich verantwoordelijk voor het afval in mijn achtertuin. En dat wil ik veranderen door mijn rechten wettelijk vast te leggen. Doe je mee? Teken dan mijn petitie.
Vanaf dit jaar is ING voogd van Maas Cleanup. Een stevig partnership met ambitie voor de lange termijn. Aanleiding genoeg om kennis te maken met de organisatie achter dit commitment. We spreken Joeri van de Moosdijk, regiodirecteur Business Banking.
De klok tikt voor schoon water. In 2027 moet Nederland voldoen aan de Europese Kaderrichtlijn Water, maar onze rivieren, beken en meren staan nog altijd flink onder druk. Wat doet Nederland al voor schoon water? En is dat genoeg voor 2027?
De Sportvisunie zet zich in voor schoon water en een goede visstand. Het partnerschap met Maas Cleanup moet die missie verder versterken. We spreken Jorg Nelissen, belangenbehartiger van de Sportvisunie: “We nemen onze verantwoordelijkheid serieus.”
